Chocolate Challenge~Download N Go Review

Our studies this week have taken us from the Mayan people in Mexico and deep into the Amazon rain forest in South America and all the way to a small town in Pennsylvania!
What have we been studying?
The Chocolate Challenge Download N Go ranks up there with one of our all time favorite studies so far from the Download N Go series!
This has been such a fun unit study! We have learned about the beginnings of chocolate and chocolate making!  From the early days way back in  600 A.D. to the present day.
What can you expect to learn with this unit? Well lets take a look!
Table of Contents
Day 1: Chocolate – What Is It?
Day 2: The Story of Chocolate
Day 3: The Types of Chocolate
Day 4: The Science of Chocolate
Day 5: Let’s Have a Chocolate Party!
There is so much in this unit! From the beginnings chocolate. Where it comes from and what it looks like. You know before it becomes that chocolate bar you love so much. (I know I do!)  Each day you will meet a different chocolatier from the chocolate world. Learn about how they started in the chocolate business.
(some of the books we used during the week)
You will learn some geography and mapping skills, history and science.  You will also learn about tropical rain forests and why they are so important not only to chocolate making but for sustaining our daily lives here on earth.
Want to go on a factory tour? You can via the embedded links provided throughout the unit. There is a great book list to use along with your studies and don’t forget the lapbook and notebooking pages that are included in the unit.
It is hard to choose what our favorite part of the unit was. If you ask Justin he will tell you the history was his most favorite. Kaden will tell you that he loved the weather pages. I can say without a doubt we all loved doing math with Hershey Kisses! Not only did the boys learn their math facts but they got to eat their answers!
Hershey Kiss Math
(Justin is not grumpy, he is just not feeling well this week)
We even played chocolate chip math! I found this game at our local thrift store just before we started this unit!
This has been such a fun unit! We decided to extend our one week into two. There was so much we wanted to learn about chocolate and so many good books to go along with it!
The Chocolate Challenge Download N Go is available for $7.95. If you are looking for a new unit to bring a little more fun to your school or fun unit study to wind down your school year, this one is for you!
