The Homeschool Mother’s Journal~May 2

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…

This week ended up not going the way I had envisioned. It started out pretty quiet and normal. On Wednesday we attended a memorial service for my grandma and many other hospice care patients who passed away this past year. The service was beautiful and held at the nursing home where my grandma spent her final months. It was more difficult than I thought it would be. Grandma has been gone for a year now and I didn’t think I would get as emotional as I did. I am so glad that I went though.

Later in the week we got the news that my best friend’s dad passed away. It was very sudden and I am so sad for Sue and her family.  I know that heaven is rejoicing though and tonight we celebrate the life of a wonderful Christian man.

In our homeschool this week…

We did not get much schooling done this week. I just didn’t have it in my heart to do much.  We did however learn about the English monarchy (one of my favorite subjects) since we had planned to watch the Royal Wedding on Friday.  Over the last several months we have been watching the BBC series of Robin Hood on Netflix and we have loved it. It is just a fun series but has promoted a lot of interest in that time period.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We went to the memorial service for my grandma and visited my parents this week. Did grocery shopping and errands. Yesterday I stopped in to Sue and Tim’s (our best friends) to see how they were and just visit.

My favorite thing this week was…

Friday morning in honor of the Royal Wedding we had tea and scones for breakfast.  I made scones and served hot tea complete with fancy tea cups and teapot and our good plates.  The boys loved it!

What’s working/not working for us…

Everything is working well for us currently.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's father and your Grandma's passing. What a wonderful way to keep her memory alive with a memorial service. That sounds like fun with the tea cup and scones while watching the royal wedding! Thanks for sharing on NOBH!
