The Homeschool Mother’s Journal~May 9

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…

This week was filled with running just about every day! It was a long week and not much got done around the house.  We are having our leaking windows repaired by our neighbors. We actually have two bad places in the floor because of the leaking so the floors will be next.

In our homeschool this week…

School was pretty much just the basics this week with lots of reading thrown in. I am glad that we get to the reading even if we don’t get any other extras in.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

Let’s see. Monday we attended my best friend’s fathers memorial service. It was simply beautiful. What a wonderful testimony to a wonderful Christian man.  Tuesday we attended our church dinner. Wednesday I had auxiliary meeting. Thursday we were home all day! Friday we took our kitty Jupiter to the SPCA to be spayed and while we were out we ran a bunch of errands. Saturday we went to a few yard sales and to the library and yesterday we were out and about all day celebrating Mother’s day. Phew! What a long week!

My favorite thing this week was…

Mother’s Day! I had a wonderful day! We spent the morning having breakfast with my mom and dad, 2 of my brothers and their families. We came home and the boys gave me their presents a really fun Mother’s Day shirt and some yummy smelling body wash. They also gave me a heart shaped necklace that Justin picked out. A heart with a clear center. The heart opens and I can put the boys birthstones inside of it. I love it! They also got me my favorite chocolate. Lindt dark chocolate with sea salt. Yum!  Then we decided to go thrifting at the local thrift store took the boys to the park to play for a bit and then had a walk through the walking path in the woods. Finally they took me out to dinner. Where did we go? Where else? Chinese!

What’s working/not working for us…

Too much computer based school. This is becoming too much of a distraction.  We are pulling back on some of the computer learning and getting back to paper and pencil and book learning.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…

No question but I am happy to say that Kaden has mastered his pencil grip! After using this technique for just a week he was able to master it!
