No-Work Spanish Audiobooks~Review

Not long ago Justin expressed an interest in learning a foreign language. Specifically Spanish. I was eager for the opportunity to review the No-Work Spanish Audiobooks.

About the Product

No-Work Spanish are audiobooks that take the approach of immersing the listener in the Spanish language. The listener first hears the story  in English then in Spanish. At the end of each chapter you will hear the entire chapter again this time completely in Spanish.

My Thoughts

We received two No-Work Spanish audiobooks. Poster Girl and The Yacks March on Washington. At the beginning of each chapter the narrator lists words that appear frequently in that particular chapter. This helps to familiarize you with these words and will help you to begin to identify them in Spanish.  The narrator first reads the sentence in English and then reads the same sentence in English throughout the entire audiobook.

At the end of each chapter you will then hear the entire chapter in Spanish. This helps to reinforce the words in your mind as you hear them.

I was very curious about this method of learning. I took Spanish way back in high school and I did not retain much of it. I only know a few simple words.  After listening to these audiobooks I am starting to pick up more words and I am able to identify them fairly easily. With repeated listening I am confident I will pick up and understand more of the Spanish language.  Justin is also starting to pick up words here and there and he really likes these audiobooks.

The stories are engaging and interesting enough that you want to hear what happens next. I like that you can pause the CD’s and go back and listen again to an entire chapter or just a particular word or sentence.

You do not need to have any prior knowledge of Spanish to use these audiobooks. I would recommend these to anyone who wants a gentle approach to learning Spanish. This is also a great homeschool product.
