The Shadow Of Your Smile

About the book:

A beautiful blanket of snow may cover the quaint town of Deep Haven each winter, but it can’t quite hide the wreckage of Noelle and Eli Hueston’s marriage.

After twenty-five years, they’re contemplating divorce . . . just as soon as their youngest son graduates from high school. But then an accident erases part of Noelle's memory. Though her other injuries are minor, she doesn’t remember Eli, their children, or the tragedy that has ripped their family apart. What’s more, Noelle is shocked that her life has turned out nothing like she dreamed it would. As she tries to regain her memory and slowly steps into her role as a wife and mother, Eli helps her readjust to daily life with sometimes-hilarious, sometimes-heartwarming results. But can she fall in love again with a man she can’t remember?

Will their secrets destroy them . . . or has erasing the past given them a chance for a future? Read the story behind the story here: http://www.susanmaywarren.com/books/the-shadow-of-your-smile.

My Thoughts:

The Shadow of Your Smile is part of the Deep Haven series. The story is set in the small town of  Deep Haven, Minnesota. Noelle and Eli Hueston have been married for twenty five years. They have three children, two sons and a daughter and a marriage that is falling apart and headed for a divorce.

Their daughter Kelsey was murdered in a robbery three years prior and as a result of that tragedy their family has slowly been torn apart.

Noelle stops for coffee on her way home from Duluth. No one knew she was headed out of town. The convenience store she stopped at ends up being robbed by two men at gunpoint. Noelle manages to escape the robbers but falls and hits her head during her escape and winds up in the hospital.

When she awakens from a coma, she has amnesia. She does not remember being married to Eli or having children. Noelle thinks she is still in college pursuing her art degree. She is shocked to realize that she has grown sons and a husband.  Her family is shocked to realize that she does not remember them at all.

Eli takes Noelle home and she has to pretty much start her life over. A clean slate. Can they save their marriage? Does Noelle regain her memory? Do the memories of the tragedy that tore their family apart destroy the new start they have?

Wow! What a fantastic book! I was hooked after reading the first page! I know you think I am just saying that, but this book just drew me in! The characters are so believable and multi-faceted. Susan May Warren has a style of writing that just draws the reader into the story and makes you feel you are right there with the characters.

I give this book a 5 star rating!

Two robberies! I wonder if Noelle connected this when she ran before her accident? I have not pre-read any of the first chapters of this book. I do not know about Deep Haven and if this family was mentioned in any of the previous books in the series. I would like to read The Shadow of Your Smile. Thank you for your review.
