When we moved from our old home back in January, we had to leave many of our beloved plants. Our butterfly bush, the rosebushes we planted over the years and our moonflowers. We have had a moonflower or three for over 20 years. When spring came we planted some of our moonflower seeds here and to date have not seen one plant. We are planning on planting some more and I was thinking that maybe this would be the first year we did not have a moonflower.

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed what I thought was a weed growing next to our front step. I made a mental note to pull it later that week.  A couple of days later happened to be standing outside with my mom and she said, Oh good the moonflower is coming up! What?! A moonflower?

I really had not paid much attention to what it was when I first looked at it.  Sure enough it was a moonflower! Mom had planted it near the front step so my grandma would be able to see it from her chair in the living room. I am so glad I did not pull it!

Tonight when we returned home from our church dinner I noticed this! Our very first bloom! Moonflowers night blooming flowers and are so beautiful and fragrant! We love them! Hummingbirds Hummingbird Moths love them too!

It feels more like home!

I think I will pull out this moonflower book to read to the boys!

I also stumbled upon these beauties when I was searching Amazon! I may have to order some of these!
