Legacy Road~Book Review

Legacy Road

About The Book

Wes Watkins journalism career took off when he was asked to eulogize Michael Gavin, a stranger to Wes but a hometown hero to the humble folks of Talking Creek, Georgia. While researching Gavin's life, Wes was confronted with an estranged relationship of his own that he wasn't prepared to address, having ignored for years the occasional letters from his imprisoned father.

Set against the haunting backdrop of several Civil War battlefields, Legacy Road is a grace-full exploration of hidden secrets--and what happens when they are revealed. Through the ups and downs of human relationships, of family ties lost and found, southern fiction fans will ponder the age-old question: How do you forgive others--and release yourself--from a past that threatens to destroy you?

My Thoughts

Legacy Road is the sequel to Hero’s Tribute, I think it is important to know that upfront. Even though Legacy Road is a stand alone story it would help to have a bit more background from the first book.

This is the story of a man Wes Watkins a sports writer who was asked to give the eulogy of a hometown hero.  Wes is faced with many difficulties throughout the story. His failed attempt to propose to his girlfriend, family difficulties with his divorced parents and the pressure of his post-graduate civil war studies. He is under pressure it seems from all sides and forced to make some tough decisions.
