About The Letters:
Book one in Suzanne's brand new series; The Inn at Eagle Hill.

Rose Schrock is a plain woman with a simple plan. Determined to find a way to support her family and pay off her late husband's debts, she sets to work to convert the basement of her Amish farmhouse into an inn. While her family, especially her cranky mother-in-law, is unhappy with Rose's big idea, her friend and neighbor, Galen King, supports the decision and he helps with the conversion. As Rose finalizes preparations for visitors, she prays. She asks God to bless each guest who stays at the Inn at Eagle Hill. As the first guest arrives and settles in, Rose is surprised to discover that her entire family is the one who receives the blessings, in the most unexpected ways. And she's even more surprised when that guest decides to play matchmaker for Galen King.

With her signature plot twists combined with gentle Amish romance, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites readers back to Stoney Ridge for fresh stories of simple pleasures despite the complexity of life. Fisher's tale of God's providence and provision will delight her fans and create many new ones. Welcome to the Inn at Eagle Hill.

My Thoughts

I was very excited to discover that Suzanne Woods Fisher has started another series set in Stoney Ridge, PA. I just loved this beautiful town in her previous series Stoney Ridge Seasons!  The Letters, The Inn at Eagle Hill is book one of this new series.  The Letters is such a well written story! There are so many wonderful characters to get to know! Rose and her prickly mother-in-law Vera, the children, the neighbor Galen and then there is a family friend Jimmy Fisher who seems to be full of surprises! You can see how much Rose loves her family and is determined to pay off the debts that she was left with after her husband Dean died. Rose is a very strong and determined woman. Most people would be put off by a mother-in-law such as Vera, but Rose is determined to love and care for her even with all of her prickliness! You can see that Rose cares deeply for Vera. Vera on the other hand is truly in need of the love Rose wants to give her in spite of her sharp tongue and insecurity. Vera is suffering from an illness and you can just see she is frightened that she will be left alone with no one to care for her or love her! Each of the children in the story have very distinct personalities and we get to know a bit about each of them as the story progresses!

I thought the idea of turning part of their home into an inn was a wonderful and wouldn’t you just love to stay in such a place as Stoney Ridge! The description of the inn was so pleasant and peaceful! I enjoyed watching the friendship between Rose and Galen develop! Those are just the best kinds of relationships where friendship is the foundation of romance. Galen is so willing in his own way to help Rose. I thought it was wonderful the way Galen took Jimmy Fisher under his wing even though it seemed as though he didn’t want to in the beginning but decided to help Jimmy out in his gruff sort of way.

I could just picture a visit to Stoney Ridge, the peace and serenity and beauty of such a place! The author has done an excellent job of weaving a wonderful story full of some unexpected twists about a family that truly loves each other.  The Letters is more than just a story, it is about finding value in the small things,it’s about  forgiveness. It’s about loving your family and sharing together in the hardships as well as the happy times. It is a story of redemption and love. It is about seeing past your own hurts and taking the time to care about one another.
